The following organizations provide valuable facts about the mailing-related industry that can be used to educate lawmakers about the misconceptions of the industry and the ramifications of the Do Not Mail campaign.

American Forest and Paper Association
The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) is the national trade association of the forest, pulp, paper, paperboard, and wood products industry. They represent member companies engaged in growing, harvesting, and processing wood and wood fiber, manufacturing pulp, paper, and paperboard products from both virgin and recycled fiber, and producing engineered and traditional wood products. AF&PA's mission is to influence successfully public policy to benefit the U.S paper and forest products industry.

Direct Marketing Association
The Direct Marketing Association is the leading global trade association of business and nonprofit organizations using and supporting direct marketing tools and techniques. DMA advocates industry standards for responsible marketing, promotes relevance as the key to reaching consumers with desirable offers, and provides cutting-edge research, education, and networking opportunities to improve results throughout the entire direct marketing process.

Envelope Manufacturers Association
EMA is the world's largest association devoted exclusively to the growth and prosperity of the envelope manufacturing and paper-based communications industry and the professionals who proudly lead it forward. For more than 70 years, EMA has provided its members with powerful advantages to enable these world-leading companies to thrive and prosper in a dynamic global business environment.

Mail Moves America Coalition
Twenty-five associations and 25 companies formed the Mail Moves America coalition in late 2006 as a broad based coalition to achieve two purposes: defend against Do Not Mail legislation and develop a more positive message and image for advertising mail. The coalition includes associations and companies in the paper, printing, mailing, marketing, publishing and advertising industries as well as users of mail advertising.

Sustainable Forestry Initiative
The Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) program is based on the premise that responsible environmental behavior and sound business decisions can co-exist. The SFI program has a comprehensive labeling program that includes percent content labels for those who choose to use Chain of Custody (CoC). Certified retailers, printers, publishers, merchants and others are eligible for on-product label use and CoC certification. SFI CoC certification provides assurances to your customers that the products you are using come from legal and sustainable sources.

Forest Stewardship Council
The Forest Stewardship Council's purpose is to coordinate the development of forest management standards throughout the different biogeographic regions of the U.S., to provide public information about certification and FSC, and to work with certification organizations to promote FSC certification in the U.S.FSC-US has a national presence through the work of its Board of Directors, members, staff, and regional standards coordinators.
